We always wish everything would proceed as planned, but occasionally life throws a monkey wrench into the works, making things interesting. On May 20, 2023, the day after movers had collected our belongings for our ocean freight shipment, I suffered a rather unfortunate accident. In the midst of packing, I tripped, fell onto an outstretched hand, and broke my elbow \u2013 a complex break, with multiple fractures. Making matters worse, this was my dominant right hand. The rest of that Saturday was spent in urgent care, having X-rays taken and an initial splint applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite my mishap, we still had an air shipment to pack and a house to clean. My wife graciously picked up the slack, helping to get the boxes ready. We decided to concentrate on the essentials to take with us, allocate the rest for the air shipment, and hire professional junk removers to dispose of everything we weren’t bringing along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since time was of the essence, I couldn’t secure a local company with immediate availability. Instead, I contacted https:\/\/www.1800gotjunk.com\/<\/a>. While they’re on the pricier side, they have ample trucks and crews available at short notice, and they did an excellent job of cleaning up as requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By May 25, we had completed packing our boxes and dispatched them via air freight. Our flight to Georgia was on May 29, so we had a couple of days left to finish cleaning the house and packing our suitcases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With my broken hand, everything took longer than usual. We managed to pack and nearly finish cleaning up, but were still a day behind schedule. A few things remained to be discarded and cleaned up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the week after our departure, our friends generously stepped in to sort out the remaining items, and the junk removers disposed of the leftover clutter. We also employed professional house cleaners who, in our absence, did a stellar job tidying up the house post-move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since typing with my non-dominant left hand proved to be a struggle, I had to take a break from writing this blog. It was only at the beginning of August, once my right hand had improved, that I could resume typing with both hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This experience underscored the importance of remaining flexible when things don’t go according to plan. It’s crucial to adapt to unforeseen circumstances as effectively as possible. So, be ready for the unexpected!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
